Emperor Yuan Zhen Sent a Poem Translation to the Southern Qin Snow in Dongchuan
In Dongchuan, the snow covers the Southern Qin region,
An emerald river flows in the southeastern part.
The mountains appear like newly-polished pieces of furniture,
The sun lingers, casting a gentle curve through the woods.
Red plum blossoms gaze upon the frost-covered roofs,
Spring flowers await the arrival of the dawn butterflies.
Clouds have not yet returned to their hometown,
Who will accompany the mother and her child?
Snow sinks on the verdant Ling Range Road,
Ice forms, joining the green ridged springs.
A song of the dawn echoes through the empty mountains,
The sounds of mountain birds pass from one another.
The cry of the phoenix is unheard,
I desire to become a speck of dust in the south of the river.
Even when the cold recedes, my loneliness remains,
Worried about the poverty of the Yujia family.
