Chinese Poem: Drinking Alone by Moonlight
独酌无相亲;
Translation:
In a flower-filled room, I pour a jug of wine,
Alone I raise my cup, not sharing with anyone.
Inviting the bright moon, I toast with it,
My shadow now becomes a companion making us three.
The moon, although it never drinks,
Still follows me in its moving shadow.
For a while, I'm accompanied by the moon and shadow,
And we enjoy ourselves until spring has passed.
I sing as the moon wanders,
I dance as the shadow becomes scattered.
Awake, we share a moment of harmony,
Drunk, we each go our separate ways.
Forever bound to this carefree wander,
We set a date of reunion in the far-off Milky Way.
